Abethaal

A hot, arid province on the western edge of the Empire, Abethaal’s capital, Tel Kithas (Elvish for "the “End of Civilization”) was named as a joke. But that was before the Great Houses discovered the vast resources hidden with the Crystal Crater, including the largest collection of vatari crystal deposits in Varellon.

Since vatari a vital component of all elven artifice, from enchanted weapons to magical tattoos, Abethaal is now an essential Imperial asset - and one both the emperor and his Council of Wyrms watch very closely. House Sorokar, one of the most venerable houses in the Empire, has ruled the province for five hundred years.

Varellon

Along with Torsia (the setting of the Highwind Universe books), Varellon is one of the major landmasses in the world. Tir Fallas and Tir Lanathel, the “Eyes of the Empire” are the two largest cities, while the Council of Wyrms. The Elder Dragons reside in the secluded province of Lomir Drakath.
